Body Waxing FAQ

How should I prepare for a Brazilian wax?

  • Make sure the hair is at least 1/4 inch long (about the length of a grain of rice). This is typically the ideal length for the wax to grip.

  • Exfoliating a day or two before your appointment helps remove dead skin cells, reducing the chance of ingrown hairs.

  • Try to avoid tanning (either natural or artificial) for at least 24 hours before your waxing appointment.

  • Ensure the area is clean and free of lotions or oils, as these can interfere with the waxing process.

Does Brazilian waxing hurt?

While pain tolerance varies from person to person, Brazilian waxing can be uncomfortable, especially for first-timers Over time, with regular waxing, many clients report that the pain decreases as the hair becomes finer and sparser.

How often should I get a Brazilian wax?

For optimal results, most people choose to get a Brazilian wax every 4 weeks. The exact timing may depend on your hair growth cycle and personal preferences. Waxing every 4 weeks helps maintain smooth skin and minimizes regrowth between appointments.

Can I get a Brazilian wax if I’m menstruating?

Yes, you can still get a Brazilian wax while on your period.  If you do book a waxing appointment during your period, it's a requirement to wear a tampon or menstrual cup for your comfort.

Can I get a Brazilian wax if I have sensitive skin or other skin conditions?

If you have sensitive skin or skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, or active acne, it’s important to consult with your esthetician before your appointment. Certain skin conditions may make waxing more irritating, so your esthetician may recommend alternatives or adjust the waxing method. Always inform your esthetician about any skin concerns you have beforehand.

How should I care for my skin after a Brazilian wax?

  • Take warm showers or baths. For 24 hours, avoid hot water, as it can irritate the skin. Opt for lukewarm water instead.

  • Avoid tight clothing. Wearing loose clothing can help prevent friction and irritation in the waxed area.

  • Avoid heavy workouts or excessive sweating for 24 hours, as this can cause irritation.

  • After a few days, exfoliate gently to help prevent ingrown hairs. However, avoid exfoliating immediately after waxing.

  • Avoid sun exposure. Don’t expose the waxed area to direct sunlight for 48 hours to prevent skin sensitivity and sunburn.

You should avoid waxing if:

  • You are sunburned or have broken skin in the area.

  • You’re taking certain medications (such as Accutane) that may make your skin more sensitive.

  • You have a skin infection or other serious skin condition in the waxing area.
